What Classes Can I Take?

Congratulations on becoming a college student!

Dual Enrollment students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university in the state of Alabama are encouraged to consult Alabama Transfers for courses within a certain major. Students can complete the Alabama Transfers Guide and follow the prompts to receive a transfer guide for their major.

Note: Course selection will ultimately be derived from a process that begins with discussions between the parent, student, and High School Counselor.

Academic Transfer 📖

General Studies Short Term Certificate

GPA Requirements for Academic Transfer courses

A 2.5 unweighted High School GPA is mandatory for academic courses (Some school districts require a 3.0 GPA for academic dual enrollment)

ACT or Accuplacer Scores

An  18 or higher on the English portion of the ACT is required for enrollment in English 101.

Students planning to take a math course with an ACT mathematics score of 18 or higher are exempted from the Accuplacer placement test. Placement of these students will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Math 100 (Intermediate College Algebra) requires an ACT math sub-score 18–21
  • Math 110 (Finite Mathematics) or Math 112 (Pre-calculus with Algebra) requires an ACT math sub-score of at least 22
  • Math 113 (Pre-calculus with Trig) requires an ACT math sub-score 23–24
  • Math 125 Calculus I requires an ACT math sub-score 25 or higher

*A qualifying ACT score is required to place into MTH 113 and MTH 125.  Students may not place into these classes by taking the Accuplacer.

NOTE:  If a student does not have an ACT score, the student may take the Accuplacer for placement consideration.  Information about the Accuplacer can be found on our website or by contacting testing services.

*Internet courses require proctored assessments. The number of proctored assessments varies by course.

GPA Requirements for Career-Technical programs

A minimum 2.5 unweighted High School GPA (including EMS and Medical Assisting) is required.

Workforce Development Grant Funding

Workforce Development Scholarship Funds may be available for High-Demand/High-Wage career technical areas (strictly based on funding).  Current scholarship consideration is for above funded courses only.

GPA Requirements for Health Science Program Courses

A 2.5 unweighted High School GPA is mandatory for academic courses.  All Health Science core prerequisite courses are academic courses. (Some school districts require a 3.0 GPA for academic dual enrollment)
