Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) has named Nicole Dutton as the College’s new Head Softball Coach. Dutton brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to Wallace Athletics, along with a proven record of building successful programs, developing student-athletes, and fostering excellence on and off the field.

Since 2016, Dutton served as Head Softball Coach at Dale County High School, where she guided the Lady Warriors to three Alabama High School Athletic Association State Tournament appearances and six regional tournament appearances. Under her leadership, the program consistently competed at a high level while producing numerous student-athletes who continued their softball careers at the collegiate level.

In recognition of her success, Dutton was named the 2016 Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 3A State Coach of the Year. She also served as Dale County High School’s Athletic Director since 2018, overseeing all aspects of the school’s athletic programs while teaching physical education and strength and conditioning.

Her experience as a successful coach, mentor, and athletic administrator, combined with her deep roots in the Wiregrass, make her an outstanding addition to our athletics program. We look forward to the energy, leadership, and competitive spirit she will bring to Govs Softball.”

Before leading the Dale County program, Dutton served as an assistant softball coach at Dothan High School, where she specialized in pitching and catching while assisting with all aspects of the program. She also coached cross country, helping guide both the boys’ and girls’ teams to state competition.

In addition to her school coaching experience, Dutton spent nearly a decade as a private softball instructor, providing pitching, catching, and hitting instruction to athletes throughout the Wiregrass. Her individualized coaching helped numerous players earn opportunities to compete at the collegiate level.

A Wiregrass native, Dutton graduated with honors from Dothan High School, where she was a five-year varsity softball player. She continued her playing career at Gulf Coast Community College, helping the program reach the national tournament in 2009 before transferring to the University of Mobile. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science and holds Alabama certification in Physical Education (K-12).
