Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) has named Cliff Carter as the College’s new head cross country coach. Carter will lead the Governors’ men’s and women’s cross country programs while continuing to serve as athletic director and head cross country and track coach at Providence Christian School in Dothan.

Carter brings 13 years of coaching experience in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and an extensive record of championship success to Wallace. He has served as head cross country and track coach at Providence Christian since 2018, leading the school to eight cross country state championships and two track state championships.

“We are very excited to welcome Coach Carter to Wallace and to have him lead our cross country program,” said Ryan Ihle, WCCD Athletic Director. “Coach Carter has established an outstanding record of success, and his commitment to developing student-athletes both academically and athletically makes him a great fit for Wallace as we continue to grow our cross country program.”

During Carter’s tenure at Providence Christian, the girls cross country team captured four consecutive state championships from 2020 through 2023, while the boys team earned four consecutive titles from 2021 through 2024. His girls track program also captured indoor and outdoor state championships in 2021.

Prior to joining Providence Christian, Carter served as an assistant cross country and track coach at American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa. During his time with the program, American Christian Academy earned multiple state championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Carter earned a degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science in 2013. He is also certified through the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
