The Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) Lady Govs softball team will be competing in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Softball Tournament this weekend, May 6 – 8, in Alabaster. The Lady Govs, who are currently ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation, will enter the tournament as the 2nd seed. Their first game of the tournament will be Friday, May 6, at 2:00 pm.
The winner of this tournament earns a berth to the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship Tournament, which will be played in Yuma, Arizona, on May 24-28. The Lady Govs enter the ACCC tournament with a 35-17 record on the season (18-10 in the Conference).
“We are so proud of our softball program for the accomplishments they have achieved during the regular season – including their most recent ranking in the national polls,” said Dr. Ryan Spry, WCCD Director of Student and Campus Services. “This is a team that not only excels on the field, but also off the field, as evidenced by their forthcoming recognition as an NJCAA Academic All-American Team. Now we shift our focus to postseason play, and I look forward to seeing our Lady Govs vigorously compete for a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament.”
