Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) proudly congratulates Bondy’s and Eye Center South on being recognized as 2026 Workforce Development Champions by the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.
The recognition celebrates local businesses that are making a difference in workforce development, and WCCD is especially proud that students from the College participate in work-based learning opportunities with both Bondy’s and Eye Center South.
WCCD President Dr. Kathy L. Murphy and Vice President Dr. Ashli Wilkins were on hand to celebrate the recognition and congratulate the businesses and students who are helping strengthen the Wiregrass workforce.
“Wallace Community College is extremely proud to congratulate Bondy’s and Eye Center South on this well-deserved recognition,” said Murphy. “These businesses demonstrate what is possible when employers partner with education to invest in the next generation of the workforce. We are grateful for the opportunities they provide our students to take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it in a real-world environment.”
Through work-based learning experiences, WCCD students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, learn about workplace expectations and build relationships with employers in their chosen fields. These experiences can provide students with a clearer understanding of career opportunities while helping businesses develop a pipeline of skilled employees.
“Partnerships like these are at the heart of what a community college is designed to do,” Murphy said. “When our faculty, students and business and industry partners work together, everyone benefits. Our students gain valuable experience and connections, employers have an opportunity to help shape their future workforce, and our communities benefit from having skilled, well-prepared employees ready to contribute to our economy.”
Dr. Wilkins also emphasized the value of connecting students with employers through experiential learning opportunities.
“Work-based learning allows our students to see the connection between their education and their future careers,” said Wilkins. “We appreciate employers like Bondy’s and Eye Center South who welcome our students into their workplaces and help them develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful.”
WCCD congratulates Bondy’s and Eye Center South for their commitment to workforce development and their investment in the students of Wallace Community College-Dothan. Their partnership with the College exemplifies the strong collaboration between education and industry that is essential to building a talented and prepared workforce for the Wiregrass region.
“Congratulations to Bondy’s and Eye Center South,” Murphy said. “We are proud to call you partners, and we appreciate the role you play in helping our students—and our region—succeed.”
