Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) celebrated the accomplishments of its Summer 2026 nursing graduates during Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing (PN) Pinning and Candle Lighting ceremonies, recognizing the dedication, perseverance and academic achievement of students as they prepare to enter the healthcare workforce.

This summer, 37 students completed the Associate Degree Nursing program, while 23 students completed the Practical Nursing program, with 18 graduates from the Wallace Campus in Dothan and five from the Sparks Campus in Eufaula.

The traditional pinning ceremony marks a significant milestone in a nurse’s professional journey, symbolizing the successful completion of rigorous academic and clinical training and the transition from student to professional nurse. Ceremonies included the presentation of candidates, the pinning of graduates, the Nurses’ Pledge, and candle lighting in recognition of their commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care.

“What a great calling this is to the noble profession of nursing,” WCCD President Dr. Kathy Murphy remarked to the graduates. “You represent the very best that we here at Wallace Community College have to offer, and these graduates will make a lasting impact in our community and on the profession of nursing.”

To the nurses at both ceremonies, Dr. Wendy DuBose, WCCD Dean of Health Sciences, offered this: “You are part of something bigger than yourself. Now, I challenge you to be the nurse that families want to provide care for their loved ones. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to celebrating your success.”

WCCD’s nursing programs are recognized for combining rigorous classroom instruction with extensive hands-on clinical experience, preparing graduates to provide safe, skilled and compassionate care in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities and other healthcare settings throughout the region.

The College congratulates its Summer 2026 Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing graduates and looks forward to the positive impact they will make as they begin or continue their careers in the nursing profession.

Applications for admission into WCCD’s Spring 2027 nursing programs are now being accepted and are available at wallace.edu.
