Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) has appointed Ryan Ihle as Interim Athletic Director, effective August 1. Ihle will continue serving as Head Baseball Coach while assuming leadership of the College’s athletic department.
Since joining WCCD in 2021 and becoming head baseball coach in 2022, Ihle has established himself as a respected leader committed to student success, competitive excellence, and the continued growth of Wallace Athletics. Under his leadership, the Governors baseball program has compiled a 145-79 record, captured three consecutive conference championships, and won the 2025 ACCC Division II Baseball Championship. He has also helped 46 student-athletes continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions, including 27 NCAA Division I programs.
In his new role, Ihle will provide leadership and oversight for the College’s athletic programs, working collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, faculty, and staff to strengthen departmental operations, support compliance, and advance the mission of Wallace Athletics.
“Since joining Wallace Community College, Ryan has demonstrated a strong commitment to our student-athletes, athletic programs, and the College through his leadership, dedication, and focus on student success,” said Dr. Chris Franklin, WCCD Dean of Student Services. “His experience as a coach, commitment to excellence, and passion for developing student-athletes position him well to lead our athletic department during this transition. I am confident he will provide steady leadership as we continue to build upon the success of our athletic programs and serve our student-athletes with excellence.“
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve Wallace Community College in this new capacity while continuing to coach our baseball program,” said Ihle. “Wallace has become home for my family and me, and I look forward to supporting all of our coaches and student-athletes as we continue building a culture centered on academic achievement, competitive excellence, and representing the Governors with pride.”
Ihle brings a diverse background in collegiate athletics and administration to the position. In addition to his success at Wallace, he has served in coaching roles at Cloud County Community College, Columbus State University, and the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University.
As Athletic Director, Ihle will oversee a department that has experienced significant growth in recent years with the addition of men’s golf, men’s and women’s cross country, in addition to baseball and softball. His responsibilities will include supporting coaches and student-athletes, overseeing departmental operations, coordinating athletic events, fostering community engagement, and helping guide the continued growth of Wallace’s athletic programs.
