Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) graduates of the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing (PN) programs have once again achieved outstanding pass rates on their NCLEX exam for 2023, with a pass rate of 97.78% for ADN graduates and a 97.73% pass rate for PN graduates.
Each state requires nursing graduates to meet certain passing standards set by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The NCLEX exam is used to regulate licensing to become Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). The exam itself has been developed to assess certain competencies so that the candidate can perform as a licensed entry-level RN or LPN.
“Wallace Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing program has been a long-standing, highly productive RN program in the state of Alabama since 1969,” said Dr. Jaqueline Spivey, WCCD ADN Division Director. “From the first regional accreditation from the National League for Nursing (now Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing-ACEN) until today’s continued reaccreditation for the next eight years (2031), our graduates continue to excel in their nursing careers. The faculty and staff in the Associate Degree Nursing program work diligently to offer the best learning experiences by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and teaching initiatives. The faculty also individually work with the students to ensure that our graduates are prepared to enter the ever-changing healthcare workforce.”
WCCD PN Division Director Dr. Gwyn Galloway commends the Practical Nursing faculty, staff, and students for their success on the national licensing exam. “In addition to preparing students to pass the licensing exam, faculty also teach graduates to care for patients with empathy and compassion,” said Galloway. “The success of the graduates ensures that the mission of the Alabama Board of Nursing is upheld by delivering care with safety as a top priority.”
The ADN and PN programs at WCCD are fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and have held full accreditation since first granted.
