Wallace Community College – Dothan recently partnered with the Bullock County Development Authority (BCDA), Bullock County Career Technical Center (BCCTC), and Southern Springs Healthcare (SSH) to offer a new 6-week Certified Nursing Assistant program.
Students began in February, and finished the class last week. Five students graduated from the first class held at the BCCTC.
Students receiving their certificates were Tia Edwards, Aubriona Harris, Jaheem Jenkins, Tai’Siara Thelon, and Angela Williams. All five students are from Union Springs.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are very important members of the health care team. They work in nursing homes, home health agencies, hospitals, hospice organizations, and other facilities providing health care to individuals.
“We hope this class of graduates from the very first Wallace Community College CNA program in Bullock County has set the tone for others in the community to step out of their comfort zone and embark on a potentially new career,” said Kecia Forehand, WCC Workforce Development Coordinator. “The resilience and perseverance of these graduates is to be commended as they all overcame barriers to successfully complete the program. We are looking forward to our next class.”
