In the Cyber Defense program, students will learn to prevent cyber attacks from infecting a computer system or device. You will learn to take active steps to anticipate adversarial cyber actions and to mount counter intrusions. All cyber defense strategies and tactics have a common goal, which is to prevent, disrupt, and respond to cyber threats.
This program will give you an understanding of how to identify weaknesses in systems and networks and also teach you how to create action plans that help prevent security breaches in technology systems. Some of the courses you will take in this program are:
- Digital Forensics – including the investigation, analysis, collection and handling and reporting of electronic evidence.
- Ethical Hacking – this involves an authorized attempt to gain unauthorized access to a computer system, application, or data. Carrying out an ethical hack involves duplicating strategies and actions of malicious attackers in order to identify security vulnerabilities.
- Network Security – a set of rules and configurations designed to protect the integrity, confidentiality and accessibility of computer networks and data using both software and hardware technologies.
Employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 33 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 16,300 openings for information security analysts are projected each year, on average, over the decade.
