Wallace Community College is pleased to offer the 2014 GED® Test- the new computer-based GED® test that replaced the paper-based 2002 version. The new test measures the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills that colleges and employers are looking for. The test is comprised of four content areas:

• Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) (150 minutes)
• Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes)
• Science (90 minutes)
• Social Studies (70 minutes)

• Alignment from day one to national and state college and career readiness standards
• Same day scoring
• Detailed score report including college and career readiness information
• Flexible testing and pay as you go options

The cost of the test is $144.00 for the complete battery or $36.00 per content area. There are 4 content areas which can be taken individually or as selected by the examinee. Examinees must register online at the Official GED® webpage or call 1-877 EXAM GED (392-6433) to register, schedule and pay for the GED® test on computer. Credit and debit cards are acceptable forms of payment.

Students are required to provide one valid form of identification. The ID must be government issued and non-expired. It also must include the student’s name, address, date of birth, signature, and photograph.

The following ID’s are accepted:

• Passport
• Driver’s license
• Learner’s permit
• National, state, country identification card
• Any other form of government issued ID (national or foreign)

**A voter’s ID is NOT acceptable. It is used for voting purposes only.**

Wallace’s Adult Education Department offers FREE GED® prep classes. When students are ready, teachers in these classes will give them GED® Ready practice tests to determine readiness for the official GED® test. Students enrolled in the Adult Education classes may be eligible for a $100 scholarship to help pay for the test. For more information, call 334-556-2373 (Wallace Campus) or 334-556-2557.

1. Receive a Digital Transcript & Diploma

As soon as you pass the 2014 GED® test series, you will receive a secure, electronic PDF document delivered to your email that contains your transcript and diploma. You will have 60 days to download and save the documents. During the 60 days, you may download them seven times free. Save the transcript to a computer, flash drive, the cloud, etc. The digital documents are OFFICIAL documents. You can personally send them to colleges, training centers, employers, etc.

2. ***FREE College Class***

Once you have successfully completed your GED® test, you are automatically eligible to take one (1) free 3-credit hour college level course at Wallace or any Alabama state community college.

If you have already taken and passed the GED® test, here are instructions for obtaining duplicate transcripts and diplomas.

1. Go to the Official GED® webpage
2. Click on Grads and Transcripts
3. Complete Request your Transcripts
4. Pay $15 with a debit or credit card
5. OR to place an order by phone call Parchment Exchange Customer Support at 888-906-4031.

Employer Verification:

If an employer or company needs to verify that you have your GED®, the human resources representative may visit the Parchment website.

The purpose of accommodations is to provide candidates with full access to the GED® test. However, accommodations are not a guarantee of improved performance or test completion. GED® Testing Service provides reasonable and appropriate accommodations to individuals with documented disabilities who demonstrate a need for accommodations. GED® test accommodations may include things such as a separate testing room, extra testing time, and extra breaks.

Test Candidate – 16 Years of Age

Step 1: All test candidates should first create an account at the Official GED® webpage.  The GED accounts are how ACCS staff allow you to test.

Step 2: Submit Documents

If the test candidate last attended a PUBLIC SCHOOL; submit the following documents to the GED® Testing Office:

• Proof of Alabama residency
• Notarized and signed Certificate of Exemption
• Notarized and signed  Parent Permission Form
• Test scores
  • Test candidates must submit either TABE or GED® Ready test scores to the GED® Testing Office:
    • TABE test scores (in all three sub-skill tests) at a minimum of ASE Low, with a grade equivalent of 9.0 or higher OR
    • GED® Ready practice test scores in Math and RLA of “Likely to Pass”

If the test candidate last attended a private school, church school, or private tutor program, submit the following documents to the GED® Testing Office:

• Proof of Alabama residency
• Proof of withdrawal from private school, church school, or private tutor program.  Examples of proof of withdrawal:
  • Student Exit Interview
  • Certificate of Exemption
  • Withdrawal Form from Private/Church School
  • Notarized and signed letter from parent or legal guardian that includes:
    • Name of former school (if any)
    • Dropout/withdrawal date
    • Statement indicating that the student has dropped out of school(or completed coursework), and has permission to take the GED® Test.
• Notarized and signed Parent Permission Form
• Test scores
  • Test candidates must submit either TABE or GED® Ready test scores to the GED® Testing Office:
    • TABE test scores (in all three sub-skill tests) at a minimum of ASE Low, with a grade equivalent of 9.0 or higher OR
    • GED® Ready practice test scores in Math and RLA of “Likely to Pass”

If the test candidate has received a court mandate to complete his/her GED®, submit the following documents to the GED® Testing Office:

• Official court documentation signed by a judge and filed.

Step 3: Age Restriction Removal- After the GED® Testing Office has received all documentation, the test candidate’s age restriction will be removed.

Test Candidate – 17 Years of Age

Step 1: All test candidate should first create an account at the Official GED® webpage.
